Disaster Assistance Network

Alternative House's Emergency Shelter is a completely voluntary two-week crisis intervention program for young people 13 to 18 years old. Each year 200 young people who face a personal crisis, homelessness, or abuse, find safe shelter and professional counseling in our residential program. While they are with us, young people receive intensive individual and group counseling, as well as family therapy. The Emergency Shelter gives teens the time and space to begin sorting out their crisis. 24-Hour Crisis Hotline A 24-hour crisis hotline, 1-800-SAY-TEEN, is available anytime for anyone who needs assistance. Whether it's a teen or parent interested in the Shelter program, an adult looking for assistance or someone calling for advice, our trained counselors can help. The hotline is available 365 days a year.
